The TFAS - DCinternships programs take place each summer and semester and are based in Washington, DC. Each program includes academic credit through George Mason University, an internship placement, furnished housing, guest lectures and site briefings as well as professional development and networking events.

Academic Courses
Students earn 3 to 6 credits in the summer and 12 in the semester. The program’s academic goal is to help students explore the principles and values upon which the United States was founded. Our unique curriculum is designed to complement the DC experience with upper level government and economic courses that fit a wide range of interest areas.
Internship Placements
We’ve been creating academic internship experiences for 50 years and work with over 300 top organizations in DC. Students are placed with:

Networking + Site Briefings
• A Mentor Program matches students with a DC professional. Mentors provide tips for living in Washington as well as career advice and networking contacts.
• Professional Development Seminars prepare students to stand out in today’s competitive job market. Topics include resume, cover letter and interviewing preparation, as well as skill building in public speaking, networking, and graduate school admissions.
• Roundtable Discussions + Networking Receptions with program alumni and policy experts will help students learn how to leverage their DC experience into a future internship or full-time job after graduation.
• Site Briefings give students behind the scenes exposure to some of the city’s most influential institutions and organizations.
