Farming Internship

June - August 2018 • Corpus Christi, TX

What I liked

This internship allowed myself to partake in a research project with the Agrilife Center in Corpus Christi dealing with Drone Operations with Cotton, Corn, Rice, and Sorghum. I liked the opportunity to be able to work with a government agency and gain the experience of working on research projects that would benefit me in my future career and as well have that knowledge that I can use in future situations. As well we were able to learn how to operate drones and how to monitor or collect data from the fields we were scouting.

What I wish was different

The only thing I would have liked to be different was to have the opportunity to go with our staff to meetings that dealt with other Centers around Texas to view our options if job positions were available for applications.

Advice

A internship no matter what the experience may be is always going to work to a students advantage and I would know because all four years that I have attended TAMUK, I have always made it my goal to get a summer internship in different fields to gain experience to where now I applied for a Assistant Farm Manager position and what really stood out on my resume was those internships.
