I liked being able to see the administrative and clinical sides of post-delivery care for mothers. As a birth registrar assistant, I helped new mothers work through the documentation that they needed for their new baby (birth certificate, social security, and other legal documents). There were so many different types of families and people in different situations and it was really nice to be able to help all of them.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been exposed to more of the nursing staff meetings and morning rounds so that I could have better understood all that went into a mother's post-delivery care.
