Graphic Design Intern

What I liked

I loved that this internship gave me the opportunity to not only get some more graphic design experience under my belt, but also get a feel for how a small marketing agency functions and the everyday tasks that go into making a business successful. I additionally got to work with senior creative directors, freelancers, and account directors to guide me in my work and helping me to succeed.

What I wish was different

I wish I had jumped into client projects even earlier. Later in the summer, I was given the opportunity to work on design projects for real-life clients who would use my designs in their marketing work. This was very exciting, and I wish I had even more chances to do this earlier on, because it gave me a valuable perspective on the client relationship and how to refine my work to make it fit many different needs.

Advice

I would advise anyone in a similar experience to speak up about what you want to work on, and don't be modest about your skills. When I finally told my supervisor I have experience in web design, I got to jump on several web design projects for various clients and grow my own skills. I also suggested various projects that might bring awareness about TEEM, and then I got to work on those projects and help the agency.
