Analyst (Management Consulting)

What I liked

Partners invest greatly into the learning of analysts. Beyond having benefits including a budget for continuing education and developing skills, Taqitz will regularly ask analysts to take on one-off tasks and projects that stretch you to find unique solutions and implement them. Because of how small the team is, analysts get direct and frequent access to partners. It fosters a fast-paced learning environment and offers exposure to aspects of deals that one typically does not get to learn about until several years into their career. Partners celebrate and reward you for your accomplishments and incentivize analysts to continue evolving.

What I wish was different

Working with a partner remotely can be a difficult challenge to overcome. The sense of community as individual offices is refreshing, but working across offices can feel relatively lacking.

Advice

Communication is key. The nature of the work requires that analysts communicate accurate information concisely and draw attention to appropriate issues. Asking questions if you don't know is a must; partners and coworkers are always willing to help. Partners are also willing to adjust their approach, timelines and expectations if you talk to them.

Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst

What I liked

Analysts have the opportunity to consult on projects for many different businesses which provides a wide range of exposure that few entry-level positions offer. Analysts transition to a new project every few weeks and can expect to continue to learn and progress in their abilities consistently. There is a high ceiling for growth, and the company offers excellent resources for one to build their career.

What I wish was different

Employees at the Denver and Portland locations collaborate remotely on projects and support each other's learning/development. While the remote collaboration is not something that will change, it sometimes required additional consideration to foster relationships with members from other office. To build bonds, whenever team members traveled to the Portland office, I would take them to the climbing gym after hours so we could get to know each other outside of work.

Advice

The fast-paced nature of M&A can prove to be a difficult environment that does not suit everybody. To succeed as an Analyst, one must have intellectual curiosity, grit, and work ethic. Though it can be challenging position at times, the job is equally as fulfilling. Management recognizes and rewards employees based on merit and work ethic - you get out what you put in.

Analyst

What I liked

The industry Taqitz services is very interesting and can set you up for a rewarding career.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have applied for similar roles at a different company with an actual HR department. The managing partner harasses analysts with a constant onslaught of insults and erroneous tasks. He is belittling to his employees and has an ego that is beyond challenging to work with. There is one other upper level manger or director who is slightly more willing to train the analyst staff, but still applies the same management style as the managing partner, which leads to a hard place to work. The company has very high turnover and only 4-5 people, two of which are management the rest are analysts. There is no middle management and no internal promotions. This is due to the high turnover rate and managements inability to higher middle management, as anyone with TAS experience would realize that Taqitz is far from an ideal place to work and there are much better firms with far better compensation to work for all over the country.

Advice

Steer clear of this company. There are much better options out there.
