TA Group Holdings

Finance and Accounting Intern

June - August 2021 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

Although the internship was fully remote for me, and many other interns, I felt apart of the company because everyone I met was very inviting and always willing to give advice, or point me in the right direction. Also, having the experience of meeting different executives and hearing their journey to where they are now was reassuring because many of them started in similar positions and told the interns the path wasn't always a straight line, so they were very real with us.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've had a more concentrated role in projects I would work on. I worked on multiple projects, but some felt like a small job that didn't add much to the company. That being said, I still feel as if I gained a lot of experience in excel and interpreting data that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give is to connect with as many people as possible not just for networking, but to gain more perspective of what you want to do, and how you want to move forward with opportunities like this one. Also, try to solve problems on your own and figure out how to ask the right questions that help you the most without asking for the answer.

Business Operations Intern

May - August 2021 • Sacramento, CA

What I liked

The amount of help and guidance you receive at TAG is outstanding. They want each person to succeed, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to see you reach your goals.

What I wish was different

I wish COVID didn't exist so I could meet and thank my peers in person. This internship was an awesome experience.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give is to reach out and ask questions. When someone offers to help you, don't say no because you want to prove you can do it yourself. Learn from the mentors and soak in as much information as you can. Showing you are willing to learn and able to listen is an important skill to have.

Software Development Engin

June - August 2020 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

There was a great structure for the internship within the software engineering team. I was able to meet frequently with other interns as well as my manager and another senior software developer. During the 10 weeks of the internship, there was an abundance of opportunities to learn because they gave the interns our own project that would actually be used by the company. We were asked what aspects of the project were most interesting to us and then following that, we were supported to be able to explore those aspects of the project.

What I wish was different

When I was part of this internship, we worked only 3 days a week for 10 weeks long as opposed to some 5 day per week 12-week summer internships that we hear of often. As a result, for a large scale software engineering project, I would have wished to have more working time.

Advice

We hear it often, but take advantage of every opportunity! This internship is super great because all the employees care about the interns and the internship is organized to have at least weekly speakers from the company who have so much knowledge and experience to share. Don't be scared to ask questions and be curious.

Operations Intern

June - August 2021 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

The TAG intern program has a great mix of structure and autonomy. The lecture and business basics series gives interns access to leaders across the company and exposes you to business areas you might not otherwise be able to explore. The work that interns are assigned is meaningful and its impact can be clearly seen across the portfolio. Super welcoming culture too!

Advice

Don't be afraid to step into a role you aren't sure of! I knew nothing about operations when I came on board but instantly fit right in.

Social Media Marketing Intern

February - July 2021 • Roseville, CA

What I liked

TAG really cares about their interns. They want to make sure your time with them is productive and you take away new skills and ways of thinking. I had a very collaborative and creative team that was supportive and always made me feel comfortable asking questions. They wanted to hear my ideas and worked with me to develop them, but left it in my hands so I was responsible for it from conception to implementation.

Advice

To make the most of your time with TAG be vocal about what you want to take away and show initiative; they are very open to hearing your ideas and potential projects.
