It is a great platform to get into sales or continue sales. Shows you how to interact with customers and many ways to make commission.

What I wish was different

The location is a bit far, the job is too much for a college student during the semester.

Advice

Be ready to perform sales-wise. It is very competitive against other stores in the district. Always want to be nationally ranked above a 50%

Work hard and don’t be afraid to put in overtime as an intern. I was able ti deliver my software and It paid off for me.

Corporate Social Responsibility Intern

What I liked

I really enjoyed the flexibility of my position. I started in CSR and wanted to take on more of a challenge, and so I entered the marketing world and helped them build out a platform. I did this all while continuing my work in CSR, and my team was really supportive in allowing me to move across departments and dipping my toes in different waters.

What I wish was different

One thing I wish was different (which is no one's fault but my own) was being more expressive in what I was interested earlier on. I think it's especially hard as an intern to meet with your manager or boss and talk about what you favor and what kind of work you want to do. I ended up going to my manager about halfway into my internship, and we had a dialogue about what I wanted out of the internship. One thing that was really effective was not just saying "I don't like ___", but instead approaching it as "I have REALLY enjoyed doing ____ " and offering an alternative to the work that I didn't like as much. I still really regret not going earlier because I think I could have gotten more out of internship.

Advice

I think this applicable to all internships at T-Mobile but I found it to be particularly helpful in my position: You have to go out of your way to network. If you don't do this, you'll end your summer in the same circle that you started. Go on Linkedin, ask other interns to coffee, meet with your VPs, and write thank you notes. There is nothing more powerful and important in this company than to go out and pave a path for yourself. The first couple of times are SUPER weird and awkward, but it gets better and having those connections will sustain you throughout the entire summer and open opportunities for you in the long run.
