Only busy about 75% of the time, do have some down time without work to do

Got to work with a team of engineers, develop skills in AutoCAD and AutoDesk Revit and got to participate in on-site visits/meetings.

What I wish was different

Nothing, great experience overall!

Advice

Be ready to learn. Also, don't be afraid to make mistakes, everyone knows your learning so ask for as much help as you can. Everyone is there to answer questions.

Electrical Intern

What I liked

There are many things that I really like about my time here at Syska beginning with the team. They are all really nice, helpful, funny, and smart. They have all contributed in helping me learn more about this field and try their best to make sure I understand and see the complete picture. Furthermore in regards to the work, I really enjoy going on site surveys because I get to visualize the project that Im working on rather than just seeing a floor plan on paper. It also makes you feel good in a way since you can see and say that you helped design this layout of receptacles, sensors, transformers, panels, and other electrical equipment.

What I wish was different

Although my experience has gone pretty well so far, I do wish that I was assigned a bit more work as there have been some times where I had no work given to me. But then again, that is how this business is such as that sometimes you are really busy and sometimes you're not. So I cant blame them, but with the amount of work that I have done, I was still able to learn a lot.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about my experience is that you need to make the best out of it. By that I mean if you really want to learn something, you need to go beyond the amount of work assigned to you such as dong additional research, understanding certain applications, and standards. If you only wait for work to be given to you then that is all the learning you're going to get. that you need to make the best out it, meaning that if you go beyond the amount of wo
