It was an integrated environment that allowed me to learn about so many different things and get the feeling of what being in a firm is like.
What I wish was different
The internship program is still in its infancy so there was some disorganization associated with that, but I do know that they are open to feedback and are making changes.
Advice
Definitely ask questions and reach out to people if you're confused or if you're just interested in something.

Electrical Engineering Intern
June - August 2018 • Cambridge, MA
What I liked
My favorite part of the internship was its interdisciplinary design. Being a civil engineer exploring the electrical department, this was a big plus as it added to my well roundedness and contributed to my advancement in other technical skills.
Although I was electrical this summer, I shadowed the site department where, I attended several site visits and department meetings, and worked on LEED documentation for the firm’s biggest project at the time, Somerville High School.

Advice
My piece of advice is to not let fear old you back. As engineers we are problem solvers, bring a unique perspective to solve solutions and if we do not learn to communicate them, no one will know. Never underestimate the importance of communication and people skills.
