What I liked

I liked being able to work with students as it helped me prepare for my teaching career.

What I wish was different

Teacher/Tutor

June - August 2019 • St. Petersburg, FL

What I liked

I liked encouraging young students to apply themselves in school and take pride in their efforts!

What I wish was different

I wish the management was more well coordinated. Receiving schedules, being told important information, etc was disorganized at times.

Advice

Working with young students when you’re not well prepared is difficult. Taking a job above your qualifications may flatter your ego at first, but ends up creating more problems than it solves. Work up the ladder to your goals!

Math Tutor

April - August 2019 • Lawton, OK

What I liked

There was a lesson plan already set up for you to teach and a flexible schedule.

What I wish was different

I only had a problem with getting paid once a month, I would have preferred biweekly.

Advice

Enjoy it. It’s a great opportunity and it will help give your a lot of teaching experience.

Lead Teacher

October 2018 • Grandville, MI

What I liked

I love the atmosphere, my bosses, and my students! I have never loved a job more and I genuinely enjoy going into work.

What I wish was different

Since we are working with students K-12, the hours are “after school” so there are not a lot of hours per week. Of course this gives you more personal time, but less money in your paycheck.

Advice

Enjoy yourself! This is a fun job. Sometimes your teaching style isn’t a way that a student learns, which can get discouraging, but everyone has a different learning style and you’ll connect with someone else.
