Swiss Re

Strategy Intern

What I liked

Very welcoming company culture, great adaptation of the program to remote setting.

What I wish was different

COVID definitely impacted the experience, but in person would have been nice.

Advice

Definitely don’t write off industries like insurance just because you’ve never imagined yourself in them...it totally surprised me!

Actuarial Analyst Intern

May - December 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved the overwhelming sense of care that I felt from each employee I worked with. I also liked how I worked on actual projects that impacted the company, and not just meaningless tasks to keep me busy. Finally, I really appreciated the networking experience provided by Swiss Re to the interns.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more opportunity to connect with the other interns. Even though I got close with the other interns on my team, I wish I could have mets one from different areas in order to widen my knowledge.

Advice

Inters, do not be afraid to ask questions. No question is stupid, and asking questions ensures you care and want to learn more.

Healthcare Underwriter Intern

May - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed the hands on work experience. I never was just sitting around waiting for my next task; there was always a task to be completed. Furthermore, in the intern program, I got to get to know other interns through bonding activities such as the Tour at NBC Studios and a walking food tour. Networking and making connections with professionals in the industry is a significant part of the Swiss Re culture.

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

Make the most of your internship at Swiss Re and make sure to reach out to professionals that are employed here. The connections will be beneficial later in your career.
