SWBC

Investment Services Intern

May 2022 • San Antonio, TX

What I liked

I loved how the office was so dynamic in its role to providing financial services to both the retail and institutional side. My coworkers, managers, and mentors were the best team of individuals I could ever ask for to work with!

What I wish was different

I don't wish anything different on the firm.

Advice

If I had to give one piece of advice, I would say ask questions! If I had never spoken up about helping the fixed-income traders, I would have never gotten so close to assisting them in the capital markets. This was everything I ever wanted to do as a finance major!

What I liked

SWBC has been a great company to be a part of! The environment is warm and fun. My team is always willing to help me out and push me to learn new things as much as possible. I am always asked how I’m enjoying the internship and if there are any specific things I want to learn and get exposure to. I have felt that I’ve had big responsibility and have been a part of projects that are important to the department. I have loved my experience here thus far!

Advice

Ask questions and don’t be afraid to ask for more work or responsibility if you feel that you’re ready for it!

Accounting Intern

March - August 2018 • San Antonio, TX

What I liked

The people here were great! Also my manager understood I was taking classes at the time so my schedule was very flexible. (First 5 months) they really respect that you are a student and school comes first. I really enjoyed my time here and the people I met I still talk to today.

What I wish was different

It did start to get stressful at the end, we got a new manager and she micro managed and was not as flexible with my schedule. I understand she was trying to improve the department which is what we needed, but I couldn’t give more at that time or the future. I take a full-time college course load. I should have gone and talked to the internship staff but I already knew I was leaving. (Last month I was there)

Advice

Don’t be afraid to step up. My department had a full turnover. I was the only one that was working for about a week or two. I tried to do any task I could.
