Swagelok Cleveland

Engineering Intern

May - August 2022 • Solon, OH

What I liked

I like all the networking events they held during the summer. They also held events to educate us about topics not related to Swagelok, like "Owning your career", "Interview tips", "Lunch ins". They gave me a lot to do in the first half of the internship. Everyone was really nice and welcoming. They also have a summer league for a bunch of games/sports that is really fun to participate in.

What I wish was different

I wish it would have been more towards my major. I think Swagelok is great for mechanical engineers and maybe electrical, however any other type of engineering its not really for us. I wish I had more to do in the ending weeks. I have done some tasks for myself like look at my credits and plan my semesters out. Its nice to have downtime and getting paid for it, but not really the point of an internship.

Advice

Ask questions! Network with other interns and some management and team members, but most definitely with other interns they are your support system.

Project Management Intern

May - August 2018 • Solon, OH

What I liked

I liked that they treated me like an actual employee. They had me work on projects. They let me do actual work rather then watching someone do the work.

What I wish was different

Nothing, really. They can probably add some more of th job description but other then that, everything was great.

Advice

One piece of advice would be try to research the problems you face before going up to your boss to ask about it. You might find the answer in Google.

Materials Science and Chemical Engineer Intern

May - August 2018 • Solon, OH

What I liked

The Innovation and Technology group challenged my knowledge and was always willing to help. They taught me more than scientific knowledge, but also much about the professional world and how to navigate a large-scale manufacturing company. I had multiple pre-set projects with different advisors. I got to work in three different buildings and on the manufacturing floor.
