SUNY Oswego - Career Services

Promotions Manager Intern

January - May 2022 • Oswego, NY

What I liked

I had a lot of creative outlet to creat graphics, pitch ideas, and control their social media platforms. It also was a great intro to email/ newsletter marketing.

What I wish was different

The communication was sometimes difficult but we managed to figure out what worked best.

Advice

Do work weeks ahead if you can, aka batch make your content, so when impromptu events come up, you have more time to create.

What I liked

I absolutely love getting to help so many people with their resumes and cover letters that could lead to their future jobs. I also am amazed with all of the amazing things happening at SUNY Oswego that I get to help people showcase on their resumes.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I think the only thing I wish was different was that I would get to see the entire staff more often than just the one staff meeting a week. The entire staff and I all get along so well and I don't ever see some of them because they do not work when I do. This is honestly something that can't fully be controlled though. The internship is an experience that I love to pieces and I love to walk into the Resource Center every single day.

Advice

The experiences I have had and the skills I have strengthened are some of the most valuable things I have ever learned. This internship is the most valuable experience I have had at SUNY Oswego.
