The Sunrise Mountain Partners internship program is amazing. The interns are expected to be key members of the team, and the work that they do is valuable to the company - We were not given mundane and trivial tasks. The work is interesting and diverse. Every week, we would learn something different and expand our knowledge of the industry.
The team at Sunrise Mountain is a joy to work with. Everyone is incredibly helpful, kind, and willing to teach you as much as you want to learn. I particularly enjoyed working with a small team because no one ever has one role; everyone has a multitude of job responsibilities that span every aspect of the industry. If you want to work in clean energy or gain experience at a start-up, I would absolutely recommend applying to Sunrise Mountain.

There is so much to learn about the solar industry. As a developer, Sunrise Mountain gives you the perfect intersection between being an analyst, working in sales, and performing research. I would use this experience to learn as much as possible.

What I liked
The spontaneous business nature of a solar farm developer start-up meant that my duties at SMP were constantly changing. Unlike a larger utility scale developers, I was consistently relied upon to solve problems in a variety of formats. Working under Nick Minekime, someone with expansive renewable energy industry knowledge, was very informative.

Sunrise Mountain Partners is a great company to work for and one that allows those new to the clean energy field to gain experience in a wide variety of industry-related roles. The work you do has a tangible impact on solar energy development and the larger clean energy transition. Nick and the rest of the team are friendly, ambitious, and eager to help young professionals break into the industry.
