Sunrise Day Camp

Camp Counselor

What I liked

Even though we were not in-person on the camp grounds together, I loved interacting with the campers every day! I have always wanted to work with children and this summer experience gave me the ability to engage in activities, challenges, and exercises with the Sunrise campers.

What I liked

I had amazing kids at sunrise day camp. Working with children with cancer made me realize that I want to go into that field of nursing. They were adorable and so well behaved. It is the perfect job for anyone whether they are going to work in the hospital setting or not! It is great experience for education majors as well.

What I wish was different

Nothing!

Advice

Count your kids every two minutes some of the wander off to explore!

What I liked

I liked the job itself. While I was taking care of these kids, we had a lot of fun and I got to know more people. It's one of the only places where I show off what I can do . I was always in a mindset of "What can I do to get these kids to have more fun."

What I wish was different

This was not my first year working with them. Over the years, policies have changed and things have gotten more official. I wish that they could get back to less formal practices and focus more on fun.

Advice

My advice is to make the most of where you are. Things aren't always going to go the way you want them to, but you have to be flexible to make the best out of any situation.
