I loved that staff was willing to walk me through the day to day functioning of the job and encouraged me to be hands on with the boys that we worked with.
What I wish was different
I wished that some of the staff had treated these boys a little better. I totally understand that these boys have criminogenic tendencies, but they are still kids. Some staff would talk down on the boys and wonder why they didn't respect them at all.
Advice
If you are unable to handle dealing with trauma or kids with behavioral issues or you are not patient and understanding, don't work here.
