Construction Management Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The responsibility and trust I was given from the field team was amazing. They were all patient with my learning curve on the project and made me feel as if I was with them from the beginning for my 3 months there.

What I wish was different

I was given a little bit more of work towards the middle of my time at Suffolk everything else I would keep the same.

Advice

The work will take a lot of time to complete, no official hours some days you might leave early others you may stay until 6pm. But the work is fulfilling and meaning every step of the way to complete the project.

Intern

June - August 2017 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

During my time at Suffolk, I got to be a part of the various different roles in construction management. I sat in on meetings, met with the clients, looked over the budget, walked the site, and was put into the role of a project engineer. I was able to learn about a wide range of topics involved and construction management and I learned a lot from my experience. I also really enjoyed working with my team members.

What I wish was different

Commuting into the city everyday was it fun, but it is necessary for this type of work.

Advice

Use LinkedIn as much as possible! I had no contacts at Suffolk or even in construction management, but I reached out to a Villanova alumni via LinkedIn because I really liked the company. He forwarded my resume to HR and I was able to get an internship.
