What I liked

I liked most of my coworkers and the fast-paced environment. Prepping ingredients was also fun.

What I wish was different

I wish my hours hadn't been significantly cut after I made minor changes to my availability, and I wish my availability had been respected after the change.

Advice

Expect to have sore feet. There's almost nowhere for employees to sit and take a breath.

May - August 2019 • LaGrange, IN

What I liked

I liked working in my hometown. It was convenient and the workload not bad and they paid well.

What I wish was different

I wish everyone had specific jobs and they were written down. It's hard when some workers won't do anything and some have to do register, clean counter and tables, do dishes, prep food while others just stay in the line, even when we aren't busy.

Advice

Just make a list of what needs to get done, make sure it gets done, and check it twice!

May 2019 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I liked interacting with the customers! Talking to them about their day and just being able to put a smile on their face really made the job fun.

What I wish was different

I wished they had another employee to work the evening shift with me. Sometimes there will be a rush of people and making all those sandwiches by myself was not fun.

Advice

Even when it gets stressful and some customers aren't kind, there will be more good times and sweet customers to out way those bad moments.

Shift Leader

June 2018 - August 2019 • Palmyra, IN

What I liked

It's fun getting to meet customers, especially the regulars. I was also lucky enough to have some pretty great coworkers that made the job fun to be at.

What I wish was different

I wish at the beginning of the employment I felt more open to talk to my boss about things that were going wrong, but she approached me later to assure me that she welcomes anything I have to say to make the workplace better.

Advice

Don't let time get away from you. When you have a few extra minutes before a rush, don't use it to look at your phone or socialize. You can talk to your coworkers, but make sure you check every detail before a rush, because during a rush is not when you want to be playing catch up.
