About Students + Startups

MORE THAN AN INTERNSHIP: Students + Startups (S+S) is a 10-week internship program that begins June 1, 2022 and ends August 15, 2022. S+S is the bridge between top talent and career advancing opportunities in San Antonio. We pride ourselves on being able to provide impactful and meaningful internships to our students at local startups in San Antonio, Texas.

OUR BELIEF: An internship can profoundly impact a student’s professional future, as well as give growing companies a huge boost in talent and capacity. San Antonio’s future economy depends on growing and retaining top talent, and we can help.

With your summer internship through S+S, you’ll experience the exciting, stressful, and immensely rewarding life as a small business or startup intern. THE PROCESS: You'll first apply into the Students + Startups program, if accepted, you'll begin the interviewing process. You’re not officially a part of the program until you accept a job offer from a participating company partner.

We review every applicant based on their application, LinkedIn Profile and a brief 15 min phone call. After students are vetted they are then given access to our portal. Through the portal you are able to view all of the participating companies and their job postings.

We then have you submit your top 10 postings that you are most interested in. From there we create your schedule for Speed Interview Night. Speed Interview Night is exactly what it sounds like; hosted in person at the Mays Family Center at the Witte Museum February 22nd, you will interview with 5-6 company partners for about 8 min each in one evening. There will be time for networking before and after. Speed Interview Night will consist of about 60 different companies and about 150 vetted students.

The month following with be for formal interviews. We encourage our students to reach out to any company they are interested in or met or didn’t have a chance to meet with at Speed Interview Night and request a formal interview. Companies will also reach out to students. You can interview via Zoom or phone, but the internship and intern must be in San Antonio for the entire program.

It isn’t until a company extends you an offer and you accept, that you are guaranteed a spot in the program. You are then working at said company for 10-weeks and the role of the Students + Startups team shifts its efforts to helping you all find your love for SA by hosting events in our favorite spots and run a program that provides weekly resources for career development and mentorship.

If accepted into the program, housing will be provided pending approved application. Out-of-state students will be responsible for your own travel arrangements.

OUR COMPANY PARTNERS: With over 100 companies that have participated in S+S, our program offers positions from every industry.

Similar to students, all our company partners must apply into our program. They need to prove they have meaningful work, can provide a healthy culture and willingness to immerse their intern(s) into the camaraderie of what it takes to work productively and comfortably in an office.
