StoryWarrior Media Capital LLC

Intern

August 2022 - May 2023 • Anaheim, CA

What I liked

I liked the very relaxed schedule and the welcoming environment fostered by leadership. I felt like I could share ideas and give opinions without worrying that I wasn't being received well. I also liked the type of media StoryWarrior focuses on, specifically animation.

What I wish was different

I do wish that there would've been a bit more discussion around original storytelling and what their creative processes are for scripts that are written in the studio.

Advice

I would make sure that you take in what scripts get investment/reactions and take in how scripts can be marketed and what sells.

Intern

September 2022 • Anaheim, CA

What I liked

I really appreciate the manageable work load, especially because I am still currently a student. This has been a great first internship for me to gain initial experience and further immerse myself into the industry. I have only had to read one script or complete a task each before the meeting each week, but I feel this is a fantastic stepping stone for me this early on in my career.

What I wish was different

I can't complain honestly, we were given time off over winter break and the people I have interacted with over zoom have been nothing but friendly.

Advice

When completing coverage, make sure you tailor your responses to the needs of those who will read it, and also know what they are looking for.

Script Coverage Intern

May 2020 - August 2022 • Santa Monica, CA

What I liked

It was a great opportunity to be in the perspective of the person who determines whether or not a script becomes greenlit. I enjoyed taking the time to read various different people's scripts and seeing the work and potential that goes into all of them, as well as getting a better idea of just how often a script may never see the light of day by a studio. Communication with my employer Amy Taylor, both during the interview and my time working in the internship, was also very productive, flexible, and pleasant. I couldn't be more thankful that I received this insightful experience for my film career moving forward.

Advice

Make sure to complete the work as soon as it is assigned to you, and be as thorough with your script notes or feedback as much as possible.

June - December 2020 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

This internship was extremely rewarding for the job experience as well as the communication I had with my employer. The internship consisted of many different aspects, including writing coverage, viewing revisualizations for animations, attending industry conferences, understanding feature film budgets, amongst other responsibilities. I enjoyed my communication with Amy, my supervisor. I've learned so much from Amy and this internship, and I loved being part of a collaborative team.
