What I liked

I work in the NICU and it is the unit I want to work in post-grad. It was the only direct patient care position available in the unit after I was forced to rescind my acceptance of a full-time RN position due to academics.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have passed school so I could have kept my RN position. Other than that, I don’t wish anything to be different.

Advice

Once you find your specialty, do everything you can to get involved in the unit. No experience is wasted. It shows more dedication that you recognize every small job helps make the unit run better.

I wish I had begun this process sooner. I did not realize how long the interview and hiring process would be, but in my case it was about 2 months. I had hoped to be working this job most of the summer, but I am happy that I got the job when I did.
