I loved the staff and the fact that everyone was incredibly dedicated to farmscape ecology. I realized that there were so many different paths that people take to arrive at their current career; Stone Barns has so many diverse perspectives. It was also amazing how many different projects that I was able to be involved with including horticulture work, soil sampling, gardening, livestock work, and foraging.
What I wish was different
This is not a downside, but I think it would have been very interesting to get more involved with the restaurant operation at the organization.
Advice
Definitely get involved with this organization if you like both the theoretical aspects of ecology and the hands-on farm and ecology work outside. Be prepared to work hard and get dirty!
