Advice

This was a very remarkable learning experience that I will never forget. I went into this intenship nervous that i was going to mess up or that i wasn’t going to be as good as my fellow coworkers. The fact of the matter is, yes I did make mistakes and some material was more familiar to others than me but whats important is that i learned from those mistakes and I made effort to learn from someone else who knew something that i didn’t. I recommend keeping an open mind during your learning expeeiences and don’t let your fear of messing up or making mistakes intimidate you, because No one is perfect and no one will ever be!

Rsearch Assistant

What I liked

Working with Dr. Setzer in the crayfish research lab has been an amazing experience! Loved every second of working in the lab, gaining new experiences, and working with animals.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to do more independent research.

Advice

Even if you aren't in biology or STEM, this is a great way to get into it. I recommend this to inexperienced and experienced people because you get what you put into it at your level.

Senior Graphics Assistant

What I wish was different

I wish it wasn't remote (but of course it was the necessary and safe option) because I love the staff at Student Activities! I've been working there since my sophomore year and recently was promoted to Senior Graphics Assistant over the summer. It's been weird not seeing the staff much.

Orientation and Welcome Leader

What I liked

I like giving tours and living on campus for the entire summer. I became really familiar with a place that I already knew. And I became close with some of the people who I worked with that summer and I have some great memories. I even applied to be a Senior Orientation and Welcome Leader for next summers new team.

Senior Orientation and Welcome Leader

What I liked

I loved the people and my boss. It was such a great experience because I was able to share with perspective and incoming students why I love Stevenson so much.

What I wish was different

Nothing, it is honestly such an amazing job.

Advice

Be comfortable being uncomfortable. You have to meet a lot of people that you don't know and work with them. Sometimes going on tour and getting up for a song and dance in front of strangers can be a little uncomfortable but if you go in knowing that and being comfortable with it, it is the most amazing job you can have in college.

video broadcasting

What I liked

It was a very fun experience to work in video broadcasting and learn about what it’s like behind the scenes of making a broadcast. The people I worked with were fun and I learned a lot!

What I wish was different

The schedule was always changing because it was based on the dates and times of varsity games played at the school.

Advice

Have good time management and make sure you love what you do!

The fact that we were able to welcome incoming freshman onto campus and see what Stevenson life is all about. Also, I enjoyed the fact that we received free housing over the summer w/ our co-workers.
