Capital Campaign Intern

January - May 2019 • New Brunswick, NJ

What I liked

This introduced me to logistics involved in the theatre/entertainment industry. I was exposed to administrative tasks and learned how different departments (ex. marketing, development) are integrated. I was really treated as a member of the development team by being included in meetings to stay in the loop.

What I wish was different

Advice

Get to know other people in other departments, perhaps through shadowing. I think you can make the most out of this experience this way and you'll get a better feel for how the departments work together to present theatre.

Marketing and PR Intern

June - July 2018 • New Brunswick, NJ

What I liked

- The content creation using different media platforms (Blogs, Instagram Posts, Pinterest, Twitter) - Collaboration with team members on what to do about their New program - Many tasks were very hands on (i.e., flyering down George Street, Setting up Social Media Center) - Proofing/Reviewing brochures

What I wish was different

- Would've liked to get experience analytically (i.e., Analyze data and consumer behavior) - Wished there had been more diverse tasks related to communication and media - Wished I got to know or connected with the employees and interns more

Advice

- Great exposure to the entertainment/theater business on what marketing is like there - Does offer communicative/media opportunities on occasion but not everyday (i.e,, visiting a Radio Station and listening to recordings for podcast) - Tasks are not too challenging or difficult to understand, but would have liked if tasks were challenging enough to push me passed my comfort zone

Development Intern

What I liked

I liked being able to get a feel for the work environment of a non-profit theatre. I was given time to learn how to work with their databases and resources and felt comfortable to ask any questions.
