The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is a principal department of the State of Michigan which oversees the military components and veterans services for the State. Our mission is to provide support to military personnel, civilian employees, families, retirees, and veterans. Within the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), we serve veterans within our 2 veterans homes/hospitals (Grand Rapids Home for Veterans & D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans) as well as through services from within the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA).

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA), created by Executive Order in 2013, is the state’s central coordinating agency to provide support, care, advocacy and services to military veterans and their families. In addition to running the Michigan Veteran Resource Service Center – which is one-stop access for veterans through 1-800-MICH-VET and – the MVAA oversees the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund and the state’s two veterans homes: the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
