The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is a principal department in state government tasked with the supervision of adult convicted felons serving a sentence in the state of Michigan. Our mission is to protect Michigan’s citizens by holding offenders accountable while promoting their success. The MDOC has over 30 prisons throughout the state and supervises about 43,000 prisoners, 20,000 parolees and over 50,000 probationers. The Department has nearly 13,000 employees making it the state’s biggest employer.
