Working for the Iowa Senate taught me about social justice, advocacy, public policy research, and the intricacies of government work.
What I wish was different
I wish that my session would not have been cut early and that I wouldn't have had to leave the capital and come back every day due to class schedules.
Advice
Opportunities such as these, though a time commitment and perhaps a travel commitment, are worth taking. Being in the center of the action and gaining the experience of your local officials is valuable in all areas of life.
