State Farm

Financial Analyst

May - August 2018 • Bloomington, IL

What I liked

The work they had me doing was actually valuable to the firm. It didn't feel like busy work and I was able to learn a lot while actually making a positive impact on the company. They also put me on a case study where I was able to work with other interns, which I really enjoyed.

What I wish was different

I wish State Farm was in a bigger city.

Advice

When looking for an internship, look for something that will give you meaningful work. It will be a lot more helpful in the long-run. Also, HAVE FUN! Make friends with the other interns and hang out with them.

Software Developer Intern

May 2018 • Champaign, IL

What I liked

State Farm gave me the opportunity to explore areas outside of my work and connect with the other interns. My project also allowed me to learn about topics that I wouldn't have covered in class, and I got to experience what it's like to work in a professional setting where I need to collaborate with employees outside of my department.

What I wish was different

My experience at the internship covered everything I expected and more.

Advice

Don't be afraid to experiment with ideas. Companies love interns because they bring a new perspective on a project that they might not have considered. Ask questions as often as you can. As an intern you want to absorb as much as you can so you can become more prepared for full time employment.
