Technology Associate

June - August 2018 • Troy, OH

What I liked

I liked that I was the only female working in the Tech department. I felt empowered that I was the only female working in this male-dominated department because there are not enough women in STEM jobs and careers, and I was proud to represent women and young girls through my job. I also loved that I had the platform to inspire other girls to take on the mindset that if I can do it, then they can as well. Working here helped me realize that I was just as capable of completing tasks that my male co-workers carried out, and in that realization, I became confident in doing my job. For example, I became confident in successfully delivering a sales pitch, learning to speak Tech jargon and running a diagnostic and repair on computers.

Sales Associate

May 2018 • Columbia, SC

What I liked

Getting to help customers that were respectful. That was always rewarding when they were happy with my service. The staff at Staples during my time there has been pretty awesome, so that has also been a positive aspect of the job.

What I wish was different

Sometimes the customers can also be incredibly incompetent and rude. At least those are more uncommon, so that's a plus.

Advice

Try to be cheerful because each work day can be fairly taxing. A good attitude always helps you carry on.
