What I liked

I worked at STOGROW. This program was a bit different from other CURI projects, as we had a lot more leeway to do what we wanted to do, which I appreciated. Also, this job was focused on so much more than just research: growing and selling produce! I loved being outside, learning useful, applicable skills, and having freedom and flexibility.

What I wish was different

I wish we had higher salaries! I wish every student worker made more money, 12 an hour is a small amount compared to what a lot of other summer opportunities I looked at offered. The free/reduced housing cost definitely helped, though.

Advice

Wear sunscreen! If you want to work in this position, you also can't be afraid of waking up early, getting bitten up by bugs, getting dirt everywhere, working in heat and sun all day, and doing hard manual labor. I think it's absolutely worth it, but just know what you're getting into!
