What I liked

I truly found the field that I hope to work in for the rest of my life. I am beyond honored to have been able to serve this extremely important population and I hope to continue efforts to serve them for the remainder of my career. I was happy to have the opportunity to learn about non-profit function as well as marketing, tutoring, and interviewing/transcribing. In addition, the community of employees at St. Leonard's is unmatched in their dedication to others.

What I wish was different

I wish it could've been longer!

Advice

I encourage anyone who is working in this field to read and research as much as possible about our country's prison system and its function before interacting with clients. There is so much, as it has been embedded in our country's history since it's establishment.

Intern in the Adult High School

What I liked

Both the staff and the students/residents are very warm and welcoming. The staff trusts in their interns capabilities and are willing to assign real tasks and responsibilities from day one. There is lots of opportunity to learn and grow and gain experience while also providing a much needed service.

What I wish was different

Nothing, it has been a great experience.

Advice

Do not be afraid to voice your ideas and opinions. The staff is very open and will listen to you ideas ad if they are good they will even allow you to try them out.
