SSR, Inc.

Electrical Engineering Intern

May - August 2023 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

I enjoyed the level of community and interaction that SSR supported. Both fellow employees and supervisors were very down to earth and easily approachable. Everyone was so kind and the work done seemed important and impactful. I also enjoyed how they had all the interns around the different SSR locations interact with each other through group activities and projects.

What I wish was different

The only thing I would have changed about this internship would be to work more. I loved working here and wish that I had more work and projects to do to help contribute to the company during my time.

Advice

Get connected with your fellow employees. Improving your relations with the people you work helps expand and enhance the experiences you have while you work. Don't be shy and talk to new people and develop as many connections as possible!

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2022 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

I loved working on real life projects and being able to go on site visits to see the work that I was doing come to life.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been able to stay longer as I was starting to get the hang of everything as I had to come back to school.

Advice

I would advise someone in the presence of other professional engineers to ask as many questions and learn their way of doing things because a lot of the time they have learned the best way to accomplish certain tasks over time.

Electrical Intern

August - December 2019 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

I like the amount of responsibility and experience I gained throughout my 1st co-op rotation here that I decided to go back to learn more since I enjoyed it so much.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more interns that were my age as I am the youngest person here as well as the only intern here for the Fall 2019 semester because the concept of "cooperative education" and alternating semesters has not caught on in the southern states.

Advice

The amount experience and responsibility you want is entirely dependent on you. If you want to learn about a specific project or concept, you will have to seek that out yourself. The initiative is recognized throughout the company.
