Business Intern

November 2021 • Denver, CO

What I liked

I like that I got to work on multiple different teams focusing on the compliance of funds, including CCO Services, CCO Support, Compliance Administration, and Intermediary Payments. This gave me a very broad perspective of what the field looks like and the diversity of roles within the compliance service industry.

What I wish was different

The remote nature of the role and the geographical diversity of my teammates occasionally made it challenging to connect as seamlessly as I would have liked.

Advice

Search out as many questions as possible and create good relationships with mentors within the company. The financial compliance field is very speculative and figuring out how to interpret regulation to apply across different funds can be difficult, asking as many questions as possible will help build a framework for interpreting future regulations passed down by the SEC or other regulatory body and solidify your interpretation of the current regulatory field.

Technical Intern

May - August 2019 • Kansas City, MO

What I liked

The internship was a truly hands-on experience. I was tasked with a project and given as much or as little guidance as I wished while completing the project. The project will be used by the team once it is fully finished. Being apart of that process was a lot of fun.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have worked from home from time to time. It was quite a long commute all the way from Warrensburg everyday.

Advice

Don't be afraid to talk to people. I almost didn't go to the career fair, and I would have missed out on so much. During the internship I got to meet and talk with a number of different people including the Chief Information Officer of the company!
