Springs Window Fashions

Product Engineer Intern

June - August 2022 • Middleton, WI

What I liked

I felt like the work that I was doing was truly valuable to the company. I was able to learn many new processes and gained many new skills such as how to perform FEA analysis. My manager liked to challenge me when I was stuck by giving me only a little guidance and allowing me to solve the problem myself instead of spelling everything out and doing the work for me.

What I wish was different

I was very happy while working at Springs Window Fashions and nothing comes to mind that I wish had been different.

Advice

The biggest piece of advice I can share is to make sure you're always asking for work. Your manager may not know what everyone in the department needs help with so the best way to find new work and be productive is by asking around to see if anyone needs help.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask to job shadow or see other departments than the one you are working in. They are very accommodating as long as you take initiative!

Product Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Middleton, WI

What I liked

I loved how I was able to work and shadow people in other departments. I got to sit in on a lot of meetings and experience first hand what a corporate environment was like.

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve received more feedback on the projects I worked on, especially constructive feedback to learn what I can improve on.

Advice

Springs is a great company to learn from. I had the opportunity to not only work in my department, but also in other functional areas like supply chain, procurement and sales.

R&D Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Middleton, WI

What I liked

It was very hands on. Everyone in the department's first goal we to teach. We never stayed on one project for long but rather moved on every few weeks.

What I wish was different

I enjoyed most everything about the environment of the company. However I wish it was more related to the field I want to pursue.

Advice

Don't be afraid to say any idea you may have even if it doesn't sound like a very likely solution. If it isn't plausible It still may spark a different thought from someone else which will lead to a solution worth testing.
