What I liked

If you work as a float staff member, you are only required to work two shifts per month (one weekend shift and one other shift). Additionally, if you are float staff, you do not have to work any holidays. I also loved my coworkers and the Residents!

What I wish was different

If you are a scheduled staff member (ex. I was scheduled every other weekend), it is very hard to get your shift covered by a coworker and you are unable to request time off for weekend shifts.

Advice

If you have your CNA license, you will start at a higher wage. Also, remember to take time for yourself. Caregiver burnout is super common and it is very easy to immerse yourself in the lives of the Residents...but remember your life matters too!
