I liked that this was my first hands-on experience working with occupational therapists. It was amazing being able to ask them questions regarding future schooling and what it is like working in the field of geriatrics.
What I wish was different
I do not wish anything had been different, as I took a lot away from this. I learned the difficulties of dealing with patients with dementia, and also learned that contrary to my original belief, working with geriatrics is not my desired work setting.
Advice
I would tell someone about to go into this experience to be open-minded, and don't be afraid to ask questions. By asking questions, one can truly make the most out of this experience.
