What I liked

I enjoyed the work with the people at Helm's & Associates with the responsibilities of supervising various projects including runway reconstruction, water projects, Apron work, and various site improvements. The communications with professional engineers was adequate throughout the job with being the primary eyes on various projects.

What I wish was different

The company vehicle that I used was not the best vehicle as well as the communication with what projects to inspect.

Advice

Helm's & Associates is a great company that cares for the interns if the interns show any ambition, they will help you learn more of engineering and more of a professional role. Do not be afraid to ask questions either, you cannot learn if they do not know what you do not know.

The hands on experience of working on a construction site.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more knowledge of what I was doing before I started but you learn quickly.

Advice

Always be listening to the head engineer about what is going on within the project and don’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand something or are curious about how something works
