Spectrum Brands

Domestic Tax Intern

January 2018 • Middleton, WI

What I liked

The things I enjoy the most is the environment as well as the work experience. The co-workers are beyond friendly, and enjoyable to talk to. The work is challenging, yet rewarding. They don't give you "intern" type tasks, and instead treat you like a regular employee so you can learn a lot and rather quickly.

What I wish was different

I would say that I wish the overall culture of Spectrum could be different. The place seems to be changing for the better but for a while it felt as if it's just a place you show up and work, then head home, no real incentive or motivation to socialize and enjoy the job.

Advice

I would suggest to all accounting interns/future employees to get a position such as this one as early as possible. They hired me as a junior and there were other interns who were sophomores. This allows you to learn about the job before you're even close to graduation and you can see if this is the career for you.

IT Helpdesk Intern

May - November 2019 • Middleton, WI

What I liked

I loved the company culture first and foremost. In the summer, there were 6 IT interns and we were tasked with developing a project for the summer. Not only did we do an awesome job with our project, I also grew very close to the other interns. I was fortunate enough to get asked to stay through the fall, since it was initially just a summer internship. On top of that, I gained a lot of experience in the IT field. I would highly recommend working for this company to anyone.

E-Commerce and Marketing Analysis

July - August 2018 • Danbury, CT

What I liked

I liked the Collaborative Environment and the opportunity to be immersed in a high profile company learning how to develop content for Amazon and Walmart's Websites

What I wish was different

I wish i did more in other departments such as sales, supply chain or human resources to learn more about the company and get exposure in different parts of the company.

Advice

Always work hard and show that you have interest in every project that you do. Being energetic and willingness to learn is something that employers will remember students by and can go a long way in post graduate employment.

Trade Marketing Intern

May - October 2017 • Earth City, MO

What I liked

The point of the internship is for students to explore what kind of positions they like (or at least that's mostly what I got out of it). Leadership encourages interns to reach out and to network and learn as much as possible about the company during their time there. There is a lot of opportunity to learn.

What I wish was different

I wished at some times that I had more to do. Work came in waves, but there was times where I was working on one project and would start burning out because it was tedious.

Advice

Use your time there constructively! There are many opportunities within the company.
