Special Needs Network

Behavior Technician

June - July 2023 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I love the relationships I formed, and being able to work directly with the older counselors whom may have exceptionalities in the spectrum and working with all of special needs network staff, Vicente was a fantastic leader out throughout the program !

What I wish was different

I wish there were no families working in same location, because when conflict occurs, there is preference.

Advice

During the summer camp training of the staff, the teachers, BTS, & counselors build rapport with each other. That way there is better coordination once the summer camp begins.

Camp Counselor

June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed how welcoming the organization was. Also, how nice and friendly the children were to new counselors.

What I wish was different

The pay schedule dates, as it was sometimes not was had been explained.

Advice

It was fun but also a hardworking experience. One has to learn fairly quickly and act upon the behavior that would be beneficial to all the children. Overall, a great experience.

Customer Service Representative

May 2018 • Wheat Ridge, CO

What I liked

It was a small opperation, so I got to know the employees quickly. I also appreciate the schedule flexibility and their genuine care and personal connectivity to their clients. I also appreciated the variability of experiences from learning about medicaid/insurance, billing, learning about special needs medical conditions, and running a small business.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have done less filing and more active work like doing projects and interacted with clients and communicating with doctor's offices/hospitals/clients etc.

Advice

To be patient and detailed oriented is key to being successful here. Also, maintaining a positive attitude will not only encourage a positive office environment but also build your own interest and compassion for the clients your serving. Also, constantly ask questions about the nitty gritty logistics, medical terminology, and insurance protocols because everything has a purpose. It is your responsibility to keep yourself educated.
