Special Metals - New Hartford/Dunkirk

Process Engineering Co-op

January - July 2019 • New Hartford, NY

What I liked

I learned a great deal about super alloys and got to work on many interesting projects. All the engineers were very helpful and explained things thoroughly. You get to work on tasks/projects that are actually critical to the company.

What I wish was different

First couple of weeks were slow while I waited for a computer, but after that the work load picks up. New personnel in IT are helping this process happen quicker.

Process Engineer Intern

January - July 2018 • Dunkirk, NY

What I liked

Wide variety of projects and tasks. Level of responsibility and work scaled with your willingness to put in the effort to accomplish them.

What I wish was different

Getting everything set up and working individually on projects could have been faster but there were extenuating circumstances at the start of my internship.

Advice

Be ready to work, it is a 24/7 operation plant so not many times will you be waiting for something to do.
