Professional Trainee
June 2021 • Pomona, CA
What I liked
Mentor and manager were really helpful. Came into edison knowing nothing about power engineering and they taught me on the way. My team is also super helpful as well with helping me move forward with my career.
What I wish was different
Wish that there were field or office visits. Unfortunately because of the covid-19, work was all virtual.
Advice
Network with other managers and interns just in case that you don't get a return offer from your team. Experience may vary with different teams, but I got lucky with a really good manager and mentor.

Supply Chain Management Intern

What I liked
I enjoyed how the Supply Chain team made me feel welcome and I felt as if I was one of their own. I learned a lot of new technical skills as well as strengthened by soft skills.
What I wish was different
I wish my experience was in-person, but Edison adapted very well to the online environment.
Advice
I would say to take note of the advice from mentors and other employees, and learn to the best of your ability. Everything is a learning experience!

What I liked
Great learning experience. I learned a lot about what it's like working in the corporate world, and about the utility industry.
What I wish was different
I wish it was in-person experience. I wish I was able to experience the office, and have walks at the places I was supporting.
Advice
Take initiative, and don't be afraid to make mistakes.

Engineering Project Management Intern
June - September 2019 • Pomona, CA
What I liked
The group I worked in was full of great people and mentors. I felt like everyone wanted me to be there and to succeed, partially because that helps them with their current work, but it also makes me more likely to accept a full time position at the company later. I enjoyed learning new applicable skills, since many of the things you learn in college are too broad for specific workplaces.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more of a focus on the engineering aspect, but I learned a lot more than I thought about project management side of the work.
Advice
Go in with goals for what you want to achieve and do not be afraid to share those goals with your manager and/or mentor. In the first week, I met with my supervisors and told them what I wanted to accomplish, and they later told me how much that impressed them and how it prompted them to assign me to tasks and invite me to relevant meetings.

Power System Planning Intern
May 2019 • Pomona, CA
What I liked
I was hired on a team which utilizes the technical skills I learned in school in a meaningful manner.
What I wish was different
My experience at SCE has been great to date and practically speaking there is nothing I would like to have been different.
Advice
I suggest for any students that interested in the work done at utilities and power companies to try and land an internship at SCE in order to learn about the various opportunities here. Be prepared for an interview question that pertains to SAFETY, that is a very important part of Edison's work culture. Think about why safety is important to you and the times you've learned about safety or practiced it. Have some practical knowledge that pertains to the position you are applying to. Know about power factor, circuit breakers, fuses, capacitors, does not have to be extensive knowledge just the basics.
