What I liked

I absolutely loved the culture within Sonoco. It was an extremely welcoming environment and everyone was always willing to spend the time helping me if I needed it. Unlike some of the stories I've heard from fellow students, I had no issues being a women in a tech job.

Talent Acquisition Intern

April 2018 • Hartsville, SC

What I liked

I loved how I was immediately given meaningful work to do. I truly felt like I was making a difference, building skills I never had before, and strengthening the skills that I did have. Everyone was always willing to teach me new things and involve me in projects.

What I wish was different

I can honestly say that I do not wish for anything different. My internship has been everything I had hoped for and more! The people I work with inspire me to work hard every day and I am constantly learning new things. I am always engaged and continue to work on meaningful projects that help me make a difference here at Sonoco.

Advice

Sonoco has an open door policy, so don't be afraid to say hi to people as your walking past their office, and talk to as many people as you can because you are going to meet some really awesome individuals! Take advantage of all the great things Sonoco has to offer, like networking events, volunteer opportunities and other events that get you involved in the company and in the community.

Accounting/Finance Intern

June - August 2018 • Hartsville, SC

What I liked

I really enjoyed the rotational part of the internship. I was able to intern in two different departments - Internal Audit and Business Unit Finance. Through the rotational program I was able to learn a lot about the company and gain valuable skills.

What I wish was different

I wish I had known more about the company when I first started. I knew that Sonoco was divided into four different segments, but what I didn't know is that within those four segments there are 16 different divisions.

Advice

Talk to as many people as you can and get to the company as a whole. It covers so many different areas and people are always willing to help you learn. Be curious, be a hardworker, and be open-minded.
