The office environment was really friendly and personable. The firm is small so there's a lot of hands-on work and opportunity to work with others. Additionally there was a mix of in-office work and field work to be done which breaks up the work day and increases pacing.
What I wish was different
Occasionally the workload would get repetitive, especially if the day was slow and the interns were assigned with organizing the library of construction details they had which proved to be tedious at times.
Advice
I would definitely recommend to just apply even if you do not think you are qualified enough. They are very friendly and willing to teach. Additionally it is important to get a foot in the door in this field; making connections like the ones I made is crucial.
