What I liked

I really enjoyed the people I worked with at the firm. I gained a lot of experience in the public accounting field that would not have been possible without this internship. I also enjoyed traveling to audits to meet and work with different clients in a variety of industries.

What I wish was different

I think I can say that I would not change anything about my internship. The internship allowed me to narrow down the specific path I want to take in my accounting career by being able to work on the audit and tax side.

Advice

It is strange advice but I think it was one of my favorite parts of my internship. Whenever somebody in the firm or in your particular internship asks you to go to lunch, always say yes. I found this is where I learned the most about the people I was working with because we weren't talking about accounting or clients. We would talk about almost everything, career advice, hobbies and interests, current sporting events, what you did over the weekend; it just helped me connect with everyone in the office a lot more.

What I liked

The staff was so great and helpful! Created a strong accounting foundation

What I wish was different

-Only had one peer review during whole internship, when I was told I should’ve gotten them weekly. Would’ve been helpful to be aware on what I needed to improve on a weekly basis and what their expectations were. -Wish there was diversity in the staff.

Advice

Make sure you ask LOTS of questions and ask for more work when finished. I probably would recommend a fall/ winter internship over a summer if it’s possible.
