I like that you can choose tutoring assignments based on your strengths and availability.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was a way to get compensation for cancelled sessions. It’s difficult to receive a reasonable paycheck when students cancel sessions. The work put into preparing sessions should be taken into account when assigning wages.

Advice

If you do not have a passion for teaching others, this job is not for you. The pay is not quite worth the hours of preparation and paperwork that is done for each student. Also, the students you tutor will not always be attentive or cooperative during sessions. It’s a great part-time job for those who need a flexible schedule and enjoy teaching lessons.
