It was a very hands-on experience. It was structured such that a small team of interns was assigned a mentor and given a primary project to work on for the summer with checkpoints and goals, and the goal was to create a product that hadn't existed before with light guidance from the mentor.
What I wish was different
I wish I had known what fields of technology I would be learning about prior to the start of the internship. I had no idea what I would really be doing, thought I'm sure that could be due to sensitive handling of information.
Advice
If you're looking for an easy internship that takes minimal effort and doesn't drive you to innovate, this is the wrong internship for you.

Technical Intern
June - August 2020 • Hagerstown, MD
What I liked
The company culture was amazing! Everyone was so welcoming and open to answering questions. There were virtual intern mingling events where we could talk to interns from other locations in the company and share our experiences. Our team worked well together, even in the virtual environment, with daily "tag-up" meetings where we updated each other on our progress and asked any questions. All of the interns were given a mentor within the company, and there were ample opportunities for networking and learning about the other business areas. The internship itself was in-person with the option to work from home on days where we did not need to use any of the equipment in the office.
What I wish was different
It was a little difficult to find housing in the Hagerstown, MD area that was short-term and fully furnished. Another intern and I ended up finding an Air B&B in Pennsylvania that was about a 30 minute commute to work. This was a little overpriced and we ended up spending more than the "sign-on bonus" that the company offered.
Advice
I recommend asking questions and never being afraid to challenge yourself! This experience was challenging but I learned a lot and it really added depth to my resume. Also, I would suggest looking for housing as soon as you accept the offer, and if there is any college or university nearby, that is a great place to look for short-term summer housing that is fully furnished!

Technical Intern
May - July 2019 • Louisville, CO
What I liked
I loved the location and the team environment there.
What I wish was different
I wish I had a little more time working there. I was only there for 10 weeks and my projects felt a little rushed. It also took a little bit more time to get everything up and running.
Advice
I would definitely recommend anyone going for an internship to be open to moving to a place you've never been. I had never been to Colorado and it was an amazing experience to be able to go and see a new place and meet different people.
