Production Technical Engineering Intern

What I liked

I loved the work environment and how everyone is willing to help out or just have a conversation. This experience converged the many things I learned across so many classes so I could see and appreciate how all these concepts connect with each other. By working on projects firsthand in the Production Room, I realized how there are many other factors that affect the production time of an item than just the speed of the machine and conveyor belt. At this internship, there were many programs that helped develop me in a general, professional way and I’m grateful to have participated in it. The Speaker Series by different senior leaders taught me more about the company, the Growtality workshop helped me with my leadership and the volunteer opportunities allowed me to give back to community as well as collaborate with my fellow interns.

What I wish was different

I wish the pace for interns was more stable as opposed to being very slow in the beginning and too demanding before the presentation.

Advice

Take the opportunity to learn new skills through practical application that you wouldn’t otherwise learn on your own through abstract lessons. Also, during the internship don’t be shy to use concepts/software skills you learned from class that the company hasn’t tried yet—introducing them to it makes a huge difference!

What I liked

I got to sit in on a lot of meetings and read a lot of PowerPoints that sharpened my writing and professional skills. I also got to see how things were handled in house.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been given more PR related work rather than typical intern duties such as doing send outs and reorganizing product.

Advice

Ask for more responsibility! It will only get you more experience and show your bosses you're determined.

Shiseido's internship program gives interns a very well rounded summer where they get to learn a lot through personal projects, networking events, and speaker presentations. Everyone at this company is so willing to help and wants to see you succeed in your final project!
