Nursing Assistant

June 2022 • Chula Vista, CA

What I liked

I love my ability to help people and establish caring relationships with my patients. Being a nursing assistant allows me to ensure that patients are happy and on their way to recovery.

What I wish was different

I wish I could speak fluent Spanish. Most patients in Chula Vista speak Spanish as their first language so I feel a barrier between myself and providing excellent care. I also dislike the 12 hour shifts. It can be difficult to feel like you have enough energy to work for that long.

Advice

Put yourself out there while also understanding your limitations. It is difficult to handle a job and school at the same time (especially if you work 12 hour shifts) so you must learn to manage your time.

Finance Intern

June - August 2019 • La Mesa, CA

What I liked

The job allowed me to become more comfortable with Microsoft Excel as well as learn the ins and outs of preparing a Fiscal Year Budget.

What I wish was different

At times there was nothing to work on as I would just sit at my desk, aimlessly looking at my computer screens.

Advice

Go in with an open mind and do not be afraid to ask questions.

Nursing Assistant

June 2018 • Chula Vista, CA

What I liked

This position allowed me on-hand work experience in the medical field, which is directly applicable to my future career as a Nurse. I have since begun building contacts in the hospital by which I can apply for an RN position.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have taken the time to make this job happen sooner in my nursing career.

Advice

Do it, do it soon, make it work with your schedule. No regrets, and countless advantages had.
