Shamrock Foods Company

Category Management Intern

May - August 2023 • Scottsdale, AZ

What I liked

I loved working with the School Bid team within Category Management and getting to work with other interns! I was paired with 4 other interns, and we worked on a project that we later presented to C-Suite at the end of the internship. The tours, food bank volunteering, and National Intern Day events were a blast as well!

Human Resources Business Partner

January 2022 • Aurora, CO

What I liked

Flexible hours, employee relationships, benefits, company relationships with employees and managers, promotion from within,

What I wish was different

More of a hybrid role.

Advice

I started off as an intern and was able to take a full-time role with the company upon completion of my internship. I believe that internships provide real-world experiences and situations that allow a hands-on experience with what one has learned in the classroom.

Sales and Marketing Intern

May - September 2019 • Albuquerque, NM

What I liked

During my Summer at Shamrock Foods, I gained extensive experience with business to business marketing, planning events and managing promotions. The environment at Shamrock was friendly and welcoming, and they always made an effort to make every task fun!

What I wish was different

Looking back at my summer at Shamrock, I really can't say that I would change anything.

Advice

As for advice, I say try everything. If you have the opportunity to, ask to go on that sales ride-along or spend some time in the wear house learning about quality assurance and produce- even if you aren't interested. It shows you are eager to learn and allows you to make connections beyond your department.

Business Process Improvement Intern

What I liked

The company culture and various intern events that took place over the summer

What I wish was different

The only complaint would be how far it was compared to where I lived, making the commute there and back around a couple hours

Advice

Dairy Marketing Intern

May 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

Every single person in the department wanted to see me grow. Multiple individuals reached out to make sure I was doing work that I felt was relevant to my interests. I was encouraged to explore multiple marketing aspects including PR, research and development, brand management, sales, and data analysis. This really helped me narrow my focus when it came to deciding which aspect I want to pursue full-time.

What I wish was different

Work could tend to lull depending on project timelines, but luckily never completely bored or without something to do.

Advice

Be relaxed and yourself in the interview, they want to get to know your personality!

Marketing Coordinator

June - September 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I liked getting hands on experience in the marketing field.

What I wish was different

I feel that the leadership was not the best and did not work much to "mentor" me. I was lucky to have worked with other management throughout the duration of my internship that helped me grow as a young professional.

Advice

I recommend working for Shamrock for they are a great company and provide opportunity for growth. I just recommend choosing a different marketing department than I did.
